Upcoming key events (London Time)
Wed 07:00 PM USD Fed Interest Rate Decision (Federal Funds Rate)
What happened lately
On Wednesday, the United States will announce its latest Federal Funds Rate decision, which is a highly anticipated event due to its potential impact on global financial markets. Changes in interest rates can influence economic activities by affecting borrowing costs for individuals and businesses. A rate hike could lead to a stronger US dollar as investors seek higher returns, whereas a rate cut could weaken the dollar.
As for the British Pound, it remains in consolidation against the US Dollar ahead of this significant announcement. On Monday, the GBPUSD pair saw a slight increase of 0.18%, rising to 1.32885. This movement suggests that traders are cautiously optimistic or waiting to see clearer economic signals before making large trades. The market’s indecisiveness often reflects anticipation of uncertain policy outcomes.
The upcoming US Federal Reserve’s decision on interest rates could significantly influence the GBPUSD currency pair. If the Federal Reserve decides to raise interest rates, it might boost the US dollar against the British pound due to the increased attractiveness of holding USD-denominated assets. Conversely, if the Fed leaves rates unchanged or signals a more dovish outlook, the GBP might benefit as investors look for better returns elsewhere, possibly strengthening against the USD. However, the extent of any movement would also depend on the broader economic context and market sentiment at the time of the announcement.

What can we expect from GBPUSD today?
GBPUSD on Monday rose 0.18% to 1.32885. Price is below 9-Day EMA while Stochastic is rising in oversold zone.
Updated daily direction for GBPUSD looks mixed as the pair is likely to consolidate above 1.32531 (S1).
Looking ahead today, to see upside interest, we prefer to look at price breakout of last daily high of 1.33364 or trades above daily pivot 1.32947. Break above could target R1 at 1.33302. While to the downside, we are looking at 1.32531 (S1) and daily low of 1.32593 as support levels. GBPUSD need to break on either side to indicate a short-term bias.
